Picnic outside on a sunny dayIn the midst of summer, it’s easy to let your mind wander during the long, lazy days of relaxation. While it’s important to unwind on vacation, relax at the beach, retreat to the mountains and play in the park, you also mustn’t neglect your oral health.

Your summertime may be “laid back,” but it’s not slack-off time! Keep up the preventive work by brushing your teeth 3-4 times a day, visit your dentist on a regular basis, and follow these tips to help keep your summer free of dental accidents:

  • Always wear seat belts when riding in an automobile.
  • Wear the proper safety gear, including mouthguards, when playing sports.
  • Never bite down on hard items like popcorn kernels, ice or caramels.
  • Don’t chew on pencils or open things with your teeth.
